MY EXPERIENCE OF BEING A STUDENT ABROAD

Переглядів 88
My name is Anastasiia Kotovshchuk. I am 19 years old and I am from Ukraine, but now I am doing my programme in Porto.
I lived a simple student life, but decided to try my fortune and take part in the programme “Eminence 2” “Erasmus Mundus””. Everything changed in a moment when I got a letter that told me I won a scholarship for studying in the University of Porto for 10 months. I was happy and I still am. Then came a great deal of work with documents I should prepare for my arrival, but it is worth of it.

WPEkmuGy3VkPorto is an amazing city with helpful and always smiling people and hundreds of opportunities. The University of Porto is not only beautiful buildings but a strong system of connections between faculties to support and to educate their students on the highest level.
I have got an opportunity to study languages, Literature and Culture at the Faculty of Arts (FLUP). It is my first experience of being abroad, so the first month was a period of adaptation and full of different meetings connected with the documents. Firstly, my classes were very difficult for me as it was not simple to understand not only language but even the structure of a lesson. Everything seemed to be tense because of the differences between countries such as the system of education, the manner of teaching and studying material, the language itself etc. Now, after 3 months of being a student it is not that much hard. Now I understand English as my mother tongue because the professors of the subjects I have chosen speak very clear English. I try to study Portuguese with help of surrounded people. Now I know how to write different kinds of papers, how to read different kinds of books and articles, how to work with the professors and students from all over the world.

It is the most important experience one can get as it teaches you all the rules of life. In the University of Porto I have met understanding, help and support for the international students.
