Nowadays mankind has faced the new problem of the global scale – Covid–19. What is it, how has it happened that this invisible enemy dared to interfere in our sphere of existence and make so many harmful implications? For universities, it resulted in quarantine. We wonder what students are doing in such unusual real-time conditions? Are they adapting to them, studying and relaxing?
If someone thinks that quarantine is the time to relax – they know nothing about our Faculty of Foreign Language! Nowadays the students have ten times more work and a great possibility to test their nerves with the Moodle platform. Self-education is extremely important. Apart from their regular online studies, the students devote their time to speaking with foreigners and watching TV programs in English. They suggest watching Netflix shows before falling asleep or trying to practice teaching English while helping friends and smaller siblings via Messenger or in reality. Our students turn to a multitude of tests on grammar, vocabulary, translation and the like on the Telegram channel, e. g. “EnglishSchool”. Watching cartoons, listening to the songs, reading the poems in English – all these are the components of great self-education.
Many teens and students have always dreamt about staying at home instead of going to schools … Here we are. What an amazing opportunity to slow down the time and get pleasure from the small things: waking up with a bell for a lesson, warm bed, a tea with a favourite book and movie evenings…
For introverted students, quarantine is not a problem as they are used to spending their lives practising social distancing. But for extroverts, it became a real pain in the neck. In search of entertainment, they began inventing strange things that they would never dare to do: sending challenges with some tasks on Instagram, going out without protective masks…

If you don`t know what to do or how to entertain yourself – we can help! At the moment, we have absolutely all the resources. You can find time for something that you did not find time for during your usual studies: communication with your family or discovering new talents! Quarantine is a perfect opportunity to take up a new hobby. Maybe you have always dreamt about music. Why not devote your spare time to piano or guitar? OR: Join three, four, or more great shows that your friends have highly recommended. Keep enriching your vocabulary: watch American or British shows, news or even YouTube channels. Why not cook? Make a great YouTube recipe reality and create some meal to be proud of. It’s a good idea to stock up on pasta, rice, canned vegetables, and spices as plenty of recipes are within reach. Don`t forget about books which have been waiting for you for ages! Enjoy every moment of your spare time.
Quarantine is not a punishment; quarantine is a chance to become better. So, use it wisely.
As long as we stay at home – we are safe, thus saving the world!
